The last day of summer always arrived the same way.

The sky would turn dark not the dark of night but the heavy, grey-blue dark of clouds coming in fast. You could smell it before it arrived. And then the first drop fell.

Nobody ran inside. Everyone ran out.

This necklace carries that sky the ombre of blue agate moving from pale mint to teal to deep navy, exactly like clouds changing colour as the monsoon arrives. And at the bottom, a single baroque pearl drop. The first raindrop. The one that meant summer was over and everything was about to be washed clean.
